A more unusual request for Mason Mclean when Vivian Chapman Head of Objects Conservation at the Liverpool Museum asked if we would clean two antique coats dating back to the late 19th early 20th century.
We duly obliged and carefully processed both items one being the property of a Mr R Turner who was the Lockeeper for Mersey Dock Harbour Board.
However the story does not end there, by sheer coincidence it transpired that Victoria Amos's (manager at MM Heswall) grandfather was previously Harbourmaster in Liverpool and knew of Mr Turner. The museum will now be contacting Mr Amos to see if he can throw more light on the coat and it's wearer.
